| Power in the PIV gear unit is transmitted form input shaft to output shaft by a specially constructed drive chain. Each link in this chain consists of strong steel frame through which closely fitting and hardened steel slats projects to engage in the radial grooves in the paired conical wheel faces of each shaft. Being capable of sideways movement, the the slats are able to conform precisely to the radial grooves which results in positive power transmission. | |||
